A dolphin learning to speak.
A chimp who uses sign language.
A parrot that says ‘sorry’, and ‘I love you’.
A woman who spends a lifetime proving it’s not a trick.
A horse who can do times tables.
A couple trying to understand each other.
Inspired by the true stories of research scientists working to communicate with animals, Like Animals is a funny and touching investigation into love and communication in human (and not so human) relationships. It celebrates the scientists and animals trying to understand each other, and tries to continue their work. This is a new devised performance about love, communication and grief.
Like Animals was performed as a scratch at the Tron Theatre’s ‘Outside Eyes’ event in March 2016, and was further developed as part of a Tron Lab in January 2017.
It will premiere in 2018.
Created and performed by Pete Lannon and Kim Donohoe.
